 A Bonfire on the Beach, by Jim Farrer.

During the few days leading up to Easter the BBC Weather Forecasters were predicting high winds, snow and ice, and were regularly giving out weather warnings. So, it was with a mixture of hope and prayer, that on Saturday night the car was loaded with wood, fire-lighters, matches and several old newspapers.

A mobile phone with the alarm set to 4.30 a.m. was strategically placed on a wooden bedside table – surely this would be enough to ‘wake the dead’. And, of course, it did. continue reading » »

Good News!! 

THE SWANAGE SANKEY SING WILL BE HELD AT SWANAGE UNITED REFORMED CHURCH ON SATURDAY 14^TH JUNE at 7 p.m.

An additional reason for travelling to Swanage is that we will be serving cream teas during the afternoon. Why not make a day of it?

MAIN BEACH 5.45 a.m.followed by Breakfast and Agape Communion at the United Reformed Church

With our next Sankey Evening coming up on the 14th June, here’s what happened last year! Well, perhaps the sun was a bit limited on Thursday 12th July, but everything else was in place. Swanage United Reformed Church was packed, as a congregation of around 150 joined together to enjoy an evening of hymns made popular by Ira Sankey in the late 1800s. The music was led by an augmented choir of over 30 singers which was drawn from just about every Church in the area together with the Sankey Swingers Band.

The year 2005 was a year of celebration. The 300th Anniversary was marked with the publication of a completely re-researched history written by one of our members. An Exhibition, in the gallery, of artefacts illustrating the life and witness of the Church was of great interest to local people.
