Report on the Swanage Sankey Evening

Jul 1st, 2008 by admin | 0

Sun ~ Sea ~ Sankey

Thank you – to everyone who helped in any way, to make our fourth Sankey Sing another success;  to Ray Stanyon, our Interim Moderator, for bringing his family over for a cream tea in the afternoon, and for doing such a good job in compereing our concert in the evening.

…to those who sang in the choir and singing group or played in the band, for giving up your time to come to all those rehearsals!

Our grateful thanks should be recorded to Chris Pullen, no doubt aided and abetted by John, for all her hard work in putting the whole evening together.

It takes a lot of time and effort to research the hymns and music. To gather the choir together and train them and arrange the band is a monumental effort. Thank you Chris for doing all this.

The Sankey Evening has established itself as a popular event. People travelled from far and wide to join us. During the interval I met people who had come from Dorchester, Poole, Bournemouth, Portsmouth and even Henley-on-Thames to be with us.

You may like to know that as a result of our labours a total of £400 was raised for Julia’s House and £220 for Church funds, (of which £60 was raised at the cream tea).
