Worship & Services
The principal act of worship is the Sunday morning service. This is basically a family service with the Junior Church children being in church for the first 15 to 20 minutes when a children’s address is included. The average congregation for the Sunday morning service is about 70.
With recent declining attendance at regular Sunday evening worship we have been experimenting with occasional special Sunday evening services. Regular evening services have been suspended during the Ministerial vacancy. Holy Communion is celebrated monthly. During the summer we mark the Anniversary of the Junior Church and the Church Anniversary in addition to all the major Christian Festivals.
There is strong ecumenical co-operation between all the Churches in Swanage, and we are involved in at least five united services each year, including one Sunday morning service for all the Churches.
Each Easter Morning a special service is held on the beach at Sunrise. This has now become an ecumenical event and we are joined by friends from other churches. As well as having a fire, bread and fish are served as the sun rises over the horizon.
Flowers
A small, but dedicated team, ensure that flowers are in place for each service. These are then distributed to the sick or those we feel would appreciate them. For Festival Services arrangements are usually produced to fit the theme of the service.
